Гімн – це важливий символ країни, закладу, підприємства тощо. Він свідчить про згуртованість спільноти і міцні традиції її розвитку. У 105-річницю заснування Дніпровського національного університету імені Олеся Гончара кафедра перекладу та лінгвістичної підготовки іноземців провела конкурс перекладів тексту Гімну ДНУ англійською мовою.

It was the time of founding and changes,
It was the goodness people yearned for,
They wanted hope for younger generations.
Praise and respect for you, oh, our teachers,
By whom we are taught life-long wisdom.
The most important of exams are in the future,
We’ll pass them in the life that`ll later come.
And for the national university,
Let’s make the reputation stronger,
And let the glory rise eternally,
Of the Ukrainian science’s stronghold.

And the traditions guard us always,
We thank the fate that we've chosen ever
