15 Charging Stations from Partners from Germany

In May, Oles Honchar Dnipro National University received charitable assistance from the Ruhr University in Bochum (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany). For energy independence of DNU, German partners donated 15 sets of modern charging stations free of charge.

The charitable cargo was received and inspected by Rector Sergiy Okovytyy, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work in the Field of International Cooperation Viktor Gasso, and Acting Vice-Rector for Administrative and Economic Work Vadym Shuydin.

‘Today, we are accepting 15 Bluetti Poweroak B300K charging stations for DNU. The set includes an inverter and a 3 kW battery, each with 5 USB outputs. That is, we will be able to simultaneously connect 3-5 desktop computers or laptops (depending on the power). In general, this is a very reliable piece of equipment that will work without interruption, and therefore will be useful to many users at our university’, – explained Vadim Shuydin.

‘This humanitarian aid was sent to us by the team of the Ruhr University of Bochum – the central institution of the Ruhr University Alliance, of which our university became a member last year. Within the framework of this German-Ukrainian cooperation between DNU and the partner universities of the Alliance, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed. Since then, together with two other member universities of the Alliance (Technical University of Dortmund and the University of Duisburg-Essen), we have been implementing the “DniPRONrw” project’, – said the Vice-rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work in the Field of International Cooperation Viktor Gasso.

‘The Ruhr University Alliance was developed with the aim of solidarity and support by Germany of the universities of the Dnipro region during the war, and this project is extremely important for the restoration of regional academic potential. Now, in addition to joint academic initiatives, given the long-term negative impact of the war on higher education and the entire Ukrainian society, our German colleagues decided to help ensure the university's energy stability during the next possible blackouts - and independently raised funds for all these charging stations’, – said rector Sergiy Okovytyy. – This is, indeed, a powerful mobile set of devices that do not require special installation and can be scaled through an extensive power supply system. After all, there is an opportunity to connect several batteries to one inverter. That is, if in some structural unit there is a need to synchronously ensure the operation of a larger number of computers, we will be able to set up such a system.

‘Of course, such charging stations are very necessary for our university, DNU provides NMT on its base, where stable operation of computer equipment must be maintained. The same uninterrupted power supply is generally needed by university units – administration services, deaneries of faculties and other departments. Therefore, we will evenly distribute these 15 sets for the energy-independent operation of the entire critical infrastructure of the university. Thus, even if there are blackouts again in the summer, we will be able to work as much as possible, despite all the obstacles from the enemies’, – emphasized the rector Sergiy Okovytyy.
