About the Sociological Service “SocioFocus+”

The Sociological Service “SocioFocus+” is an independent structural unit of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (hereinafter – DNU). It was established on January 1, 2025, by Rector’s Order No. 426 dated December 27, 2024, based on the decision of the DNU Academic Council (Minutes No. 5 of December 19, 2024).

The Service was created to organize and conduct sociological research, provide consulting and methodological support to students, postgraduate researchers, academic and scientific staff, and other university employees, as well as to promote the development of sociological science at DNU and in the region.

Main Tasks

Conducting sociological research on current issues related to the functioning of DNU, the activities and daily life of students, postgraduate researchers, academic staff, and other employees, as well as studying social processes within specific groups and society as a whole
Providing consulting and methodological assistance to students, postgraduate researchers, academic staff, and other employees of DNU in addressing social issues
Organizing and conducting training sessions, round tables, scientific conferences, and other educational and academic events in the field of social sciences
Establishing cooperation with government bodies, local authorities, academic and educational institutions, public organizations (including the Sociological Association of Ukraine), enterprises, and other stakeholders to exchange experience and improve efficiency
Organizing academic and practical internships for students and postgraduate researchers, as well as socialization and educational activities and professional development for specialists in social-oriented professions
Providing services related to the organization and implementation of sociological research, sociological support for public campaigns and activities under contractual agreements, as well as obtaining grants, charitable contributions, and other lawful sources of funding
Performing other tasks that comply with Ukrainian legislation and the DNU Statute

Priority Areas of Activity

Sociological Research :

Studying current social processes within the university environment
Analyzing social phenomena at regional and national levels
Conducting commissioned research (under contractual agreements)

Methodological and Consulting Support:

Providing methodological recommendations for organizing sociological research
Consulting students, postgraduate researchers, and scholars on preparing academic works
Assisting in the development of sociological research tools (questionnaires, surveys, coding schemes, interview guides, etc.) and methods of data processing and analysis

Educational and Scientific Outreach Activities:

Organizing and conducting training sessions, seminars, and workshops
Holding scientific conferences, symposia, round tables, and similar events
Promoting sociological knowledge

Cooperation with Academic and Educational Institutions:

Establishing partnerships with educational institutions, research organizations, government bodies, public associations, enterprises, and financial institutions
Participating in joint research projects at national and international levels
Attracting grant funding to support scientific initiatives

Implementation of Research Results in Practice:

Supporting strategic planning and development processes at DNU
Using research findings to improve managerial decision-making within DNU and its structural units
Integrating research results into the educational process

Organization of Academic and Practical Internships:

Ensuring practical training for students in social-oriented fields
Providing professional development for academic staff and specialists in sociology and other social sciences

Social Interaction and Information Activities:

Informing the public about research results through media, social networks, and official platforms
Supporting civic initiatives and promoting social responsibility

Participation in State and Regional Programs:

Conducting research and other tasks within targeted programs at international, national, regional, and local levels
Analyzing the effectiveness of social policies and programs in humanitarian and socio-economic development
