The Psychological Service of DNU is directly subordinate to Rector and First Vice-Rector of the University.
The Service operates in accordance with the Constitution of Ukraine, the Laws of Ukraine “On Education,” “On Higher Education,” “On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities,” “On Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence,” “On Ensuring Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men,” “On Social Work with Families, Children and Youth,” “On Child Protection,” “On Social Services,” current Ukrainian legislation, the Regulation on the Psychological Service of the Education System of Ukraine (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science No. 509 of 22.05.2018), the Ethical Code of the Psychologist, the DNU Statute, and the Regulation on the Psychological Service of DNU.
Mission of the Psychological Service
The mission of the DNU Psychological Service is to preserve the mental health of all participants in the educational process, provide psychological support within the university environment, and promote personal growth and professional development of higher education students.
Main Tasks of the Psychological Service
- Providing psychological assistance to students and university staff in difficult life situations
- Psychosocial support for mental health during wartime and post-war recovery
- Helping students and staff cope with the psychological consequences of military events, including stress, anxiety, fear, panic attacks, depression, suicidal thoughts or intentions, etc.
- Introducing students and teachers to the basics of psychology (psychoeducation), fostering interest in psychological knowledge, and supporting psychological and social competence
- Studying psychological difficulties of DNU students and preparing recommendations for improving the learning process
- Supporting students’ personal development
Types of Activities
- Individual counseling – individual and group work addressing learning difficulties and interpersonal issues
- Psychological diagnostics (individual and group) – assessment of emotional states during wartime, monitoring social-psychological adaptation and professional development
- Group (training) sessions – team-building, communication skills, self-confidence, time management, and more
- Psychological prevention – systematic work aimed at preventing interpersonal conflicts and difficulties in student groups
- Psychoeducation and psychological awareness – helping students and staff acquire and apply psychological knowledge in everyday life
