General Information


Oles Honchar Dnipro National University (DNU) was founded in 1918. DNU is the most famous and prestigious regional institution. This classical university combines traditional humanitarian education with fundamental natural sciences. DNU comprises 14 faculties, 18 research laboratories, 3 research institutes and 4 colleges. DNU prepares specialists at three levels: Bachelor, Master and PhD. Over eight thousand students study at Oles Honchar University, including international students from almost 30 countries. The Students’ Palace and Sports Centre offers wide options for art skills development, self-improvement and a healthy lifestyle. The large green campus provides open space for relaxation, sports training and friendly meetings.

The Times Higher Education portal illustrates the international academic recognition of DNU. Under the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2025, DNU is among the national chart leaders in two subject areas – Physics and Engineering. In the THE World University Rankings 2025, the only higher education institution in the Dnipro region is Oles Honchar Dnipro National University. Also, DNU is one of the two regional universities included in the THE University Impact Rankings 2024. In addition, according to the American ranking portal AcademicInfluence.com, which assesses the influence of higher education institutions in the academic world, in 2023, DNU was among the world's top 300 universities for mathematics education.

DNU has nearly 100 bilateral agreements with universities and scientific centres in Europe, Asia, the USA, and Canada. Eight Erasmus+ mobility projects are currently running. Besides, dual degree programmes with German and French partners are being realised at DNU.

In September 2022, Honchar University joined the Eastern Partnership University Cluster (EaPUC), established at the initiative of Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic). The Cluster is a community of 12 universities from the EU and associated countries of the Eastern Partnership: the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

In June 2023, DNU joined the European University Foundation (EUF), which aims to accelerate the modernisation of the European educational area and promote social equality in higher education. The consortium, in addition to DNU, includes 19 higher education institutions in Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, and Portugal.

The University's strategic partners are Charles University (the Czech Republic) and the University of Sussex (the UK). These partnerships are focused on improving the quality of teaching, research and international activities at DNU.
