About the Clinic
Oles Honchar DNU Legal Clinic is a unique institution where law students provide free legal assistance to individuals in need. This allows students to gain practical experience essential for their future work in the field of human rights protection.
The clinic was established as a structural unit of DNU by Rector’s Order No. 35 dated January 19, 2007. It serves as a base for practical training and internships for senior law students, who provide free legal aid to socially vulnerable groups and university staff, as well as engage in legal education activities.
Main Objectives of the Clinic:
- Developing students’ practical legal skills
- Creating opportunities for students to complete academic and pre-graduation internships
- Providing free legal assistance to low-income citizens
- Conducting legal awareness and educational activities for the public
Activities of Student Consultants
Senior law students work as consultants under the supervision of curators and practicing lecturers. They provide explanations, legal information, and oral and written consultations in administrative, land, family, labor, civil, social security law, and other legal fields. They also prepare applications, petitions, complaints, and statements of claim for citizens and university employees.

Director of the Legal Clinic – Olena Vadymivna Lakhova, Associate Professor of the Department of Administrative and Criminal Law, PhD in Law. Since 2023, she has been responsible for the clinic’s operation, selecting law students to work as consultants, and approving candidates for participation in conferences and competitions.
Senior Laboratory Assistant – Yuliia Ivanivna Iziumska, who receives citizen requests, maintains the registration log, and oversees students’ academic and pre-graduation internships.
Legal Education Activities
In addition to providing legal assistance, one of the clinic’s key tasks is legal education-promoting legal awareness among the population. Student consultants conduct workshops, lectures, and interactive sessions in secondary schools, at other university faculties, and in various community settings.
DNU Legal Clinic has also hosted six All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conferences on legal education, with more planned. The clinic actively participates in organizing international scientific conferences for students, postgraduates, and young scholars held by the Faculty of Law.

In 2017, two clinic teams won 1st and 2nd place in the “Pravoznavets” Legal Clinic Competition and received diplomas from the Coordination Council of Young Lawyers of Kyiv under the Main Territorial Department of Justice in Kyiv.
