DNU – in the TOP-20 in the Ukrainian National H-index Ranking 2025

Oles Honchar Dnipro National University entered the overall TOP-20 and became the 2nd among Dnipro regional universities – these are the results of the ranking according to the National H-index 2025 indicator – an independent ranking of scientific productivity and publication activity of higher education institutions of Ukraine.

In particular, according to the data of the IV quarter of 2025, in the integrated ranking of 232 universities of Ukraine according to the National Hirsch Index, DNU took the 20th place, having the following indicators:

total National H-index – 52;

H-index Scopus – 57;

H-index Web of Science – 54;

H-index Google Scholar – 87.

Compared to last year’s indicators, in 2025 Oles Honchar Dnipro National University demonstrated positive dynamics: +1 rating point in the consolidated National H-index indicator and in the Scopus H-index indicator.

It should be noted that the total H-index and its indicators in the indicated scientometric databases brought our university the 2nd place among local HEIs. Thus, the top five in the Dnipro region, in addition to DNU, included: the 1st place – Dnipro State Medical University (National H-index – 69) – the 8th place in Ukraine; the 3rd place –National Technical University “Dnipro Polytechnic” (National H-index – 42) – the 30th place in Ukraine; the 4th place – Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology (National H-index – 37) – the 39th place in Ukraine and the 5th place – Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University (National H-index – 36) – the 44th place in Ukraine.

Also, according to the updated data for 2025, our university was included in the list of Ukrainian national higher education institutions with high scientific potential.

About the rating:

National H-index Ranking is an independent international rating aimed at transparent and unified assessment of scientific productivity and publication activity of scientists, research groups, universities and organizations specializing in scientific research, based on the consolidated Hirsch index indicator. A group of scientists from the USA, Great Britain, Ukraine, the Netherlands, and Turkey are working on the implementation of the project.

Universal methodology for forming the Ukrainian National H-index Ranking: for each scientist, research group and scientific institution in Ukraine, a total H-index is calculated taking into account information from scientometric databases and platforms Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar. The consolidated indicator National H-index assesses the scientific productivity of scientists, research groups and scientific institutions (taking into account the number of publications and their citations) and places them in descending order. This forms the corresponding ranked position in the ranking (Position).
