Representatives of DNU at the Lower Silesian Forum for the Ukraine's Reconstruction

On March 19-20, Wroclaw hosted the Lower Silesian Forum for the Ukraine's Reconstruction, a powerful investment and economic platform with the participation of companies and institutions from Poland and Ukraine. The delegation from Dnipro region headed by Mykola Lukashuk, the chairman of the Dnipro Regional Council, joined the important meeting, including representatives of government, business and the scientific community. Yuliia Datchenko, Associate Professor of the Department of General Linguistics and Slavic Studies, presented the proposals of DNU for cooperation.

The aim of the initiative is to develop cooperation between Ukraine and Poland in the context of rebuilding post-war Ukraine, attracting investments, and exchanging experience in the field of infrastructure, education, and economy.

The event was also attended by Vasyl Bodnar, Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland, Jakub Stefaniak, Deputy Head of the Office of the Prime Minister of Poland, and Paweł Gancarz, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

The main topics of the forum:

- economic cooperation and investment (presentation of projects aimed at rebuilding the regions of Ukraine, discussion of opportunities for involving Polish companies in infrastructure reconstruction)

- the role of science and education in rebuilding Ukraine (prospects for cooperation between Ukrainian and Polish universities);

- humanitarian aid and social initiatives (support for internally displaced persons, rehabilitation of the military and civilians).

As part of the discussions on the role of science and education in the reconstruction of Ukraine, Yuliia Datchenko presented the achievements of DNU in the field of international cooperation, the possibility of implementing joint educational programs and expanding academic exchanges. Thus, during the meeting with Dr. Beata Skwarek, Coordinator of International Activities of the State Educational Institution “Vitellona Collegium”, they discussed the internships for teachers, joint conferences and online meetings, and internships for students from Ukraine. Dr. Beata Skwarek expressed her willingness to cooperate, in particular in writing joint projects. We have also established contacts with a representative of the Wroclaw University of Technology to establish scientific cooperation and attract Polish experience.

In total, more than two thousand investment projects in various areas of Ukraine's reconstruction were identified during the negotiations in Wroclaw. The Polish Development Bank has been accredited by the European Commission to participate in the Ukraine Facility program, which provides bank guarantees to support projects in Ukraine. As a result, companies registered in Ukraine will have access to favorable project financing terms.
