International Educational Cooperation: the Start of the DigiFLEd Project

In January 2024, the first three-day visit of our colleagues to the Tampere University (Finland) took place within the framework of the international grant project “Modernization of University Foreign Language Education Programs through Integration with Information Technology” (DigiFLEd).

The mobility program was attended by representatives of the Department of English for Non-Philological Specialties of the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology and Art Studies of DNU, including Head of the Department, Professor Olena Gurko, Associate Professors Natalia Styrnik, Olena Besarab, Yulia Honcharova, and Lecturer Svitlana Riabovol.

The project will last for three years (January 2024 – December 2026). The project is coordinated by the Tampere University (Finland), and the partners are: Maynooth University (Ireland), the University of Western Macedonia (Greece) and six Ukrainian universities: V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Zhytomyr Ivan Franko State University, Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, V.O. Sukhomlynskyi National University of Mykolaiv, Horlivka Institute of Foreign Languages of Donbas State Pedagogical University, and Vasyl' Stus Donetsk National University.

The goal of the project is to improve the quality of higher education in Ukraine by strengthening foreign language curricula based on information and communication technologies (ICT). The project's objectives include eliminating mismatches between labor market requirements and university supply; training foreign language teachers in ICT; strengthening cooperation between partner universities, schools, and other stakeholders; and promoting the spread of Ukrainian language and culture internationally.
