Bachelors, masters degree in educational program “Science of Earth” of program "Hydrogeology" are been preparing. Training masters is done 1.5 years and teaching the disciplines "Mathematical modeling of geological processes", "Engineering-geological forecasting", "Monitoring of geological heritage sites" that are not taught in other universities of the state.

The members of the department carry out research within the framework of budget research projects. Prof. T. Mokritskaya is the head of scientific research topic of № 0115U002403 «Experimental determination and forecast of changes loess soils at technogenesis". The subject of research department is "Monitoring hydrogeological and geotechnical processes of Dnipro region".

Associate Manyuk V. is a member of ProGEO – Europian Association for the conservation of geological heritage continues to participate in the project of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) GEOSITES. Assoc. Bondar O and Assoc. Stefanska T. are the members of the international scientific network NECLIME (Neogene climate of Eurasia,
http://www.neclime.de/) project «Neogene and Paleogene biodiversity, palaeogeography and climate evolution on the Southern Ukraine part of Paratethys». Prof. T. Mokritskaya is a member of the International Association of Engineering Geology IAEG (individual membership) and the member of the International Association of geoethics IAPG.

Students participate in scientific conferences, competitions and contests. Valentina Protsenko is the student of fourth year have won 3rd place in the second stage of Geology Ukrainian Student Olympiad 2015-2016 BC. g. Interest in geological disciplines helps perform complex routes with practical training in the Carpathians.
