Department of Foreign Languages for Engineering, Technical and Natural Sciences

The Department is headed by the Candidate of Philological sciences, associate professor Ponomaryova Lilia Fedorovna.

The Department was organized in 2002 on the basis of the Department of foreign languages of the Physical-Technical faculty as a result of its division into two separate departments: the Department of foreign languages for technical sciences (headed by associate professor Garkusha V.V. (2002–2008) and since 2008 by associate professor Ponomaryova L.F.) In 2012 the Department was included into the Faculty of the Ukrainian and Foreign Philology and Arts Studies, and the majority of the staff members were transferred to the Department of foreign languages for engineering, technical and natural sciences.

The Department carries out specialized training of Bachelors and Masters in the English and the German languages at the Faculty of Physics, Electronics and Computer Systems, Mechanical and Mathematical Faculty, the Chemistry Faculty, the Geology and Geography Faculty, the Faculty of Biology and Ecology, the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, the Physical-Technical Faculty and the Faculty of the International Economics (the German language). According to the programs, at the faculties where a foreign language is not a major, training in foreign languages lasts for one academic year. For each faculty the special scientific-methodological complexes have been developed. These complexes aim at developing the language competence which is an integral part of professional training of students at a higher educational establishment. The special characteristics of the area of training are taken into account. The academic process is organized in such a way that meets all the requirements of the Bologna process. All the disciplines are taught according to Foreign Languages Program which is recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and according to the European guidelines of the language training and to the national qualification levels. Thus, the necessary conditions for training highly qualified specialists who have a good command of a foreign language are supposed to be created.
