
According to the results of (The World Rating of the Best Chancellors and Universities), the rector of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University Sergiy Okovytyy entered the TOP-20 best rectors of Ukraine and the TOP-800 best rectors in the world. These are the results of the rating of the quality of work of rectors and university teams for the benefit of citizens, society and the state in 2025 from the International Agency for Government, Corporate and Private Ratings (IHBI).
In total, 38 Ukrainian rectors and the universities they lead were included in the ranking of the achievements of the best rectors and teams of higher education institutions in the world in 2025. All of them received the corresponding places and quality categories from AAA+ to BBB+, which mean:
AAA+ - extremely strong;
AA - very strong;
A - strong;
BBB+ - average.
In particular, the rector of DNU, a corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor Sergiy Okovytyy, gained international recognition: he took the 20th place among the rectors of national Ukrainian higher education institutions.
In parallel, the IHBI agency conducted an assessment of the levels of quality and productivity of the work of institutions, establishments and organizations for the benefit of society in different countries of the world.
According to these service indicators, in 2025 Ukraine ranked the 27th out of more than 180 countries on the planet.
About the IHBI ranking:
The annual IHBI world ranking, based on an activity-based approach, takes into account several indicators:
1. Achievements – among university employees: laureates of Nobel, Pulitzer, Pritzker, Booker, Simpson and other international or national prizes in various fields, winners of world championships and science Olympiads and scientific competitions. Among students: winners of international competitions, competitions and Olympiads, who received prestigious scholarships.
2. The contribution of the university to the development of the economy of the country (in US dollars).
3. The impact of universities on the development of the world and the countries where they are located, on the transformation of the environment – active struggle for peace, respect for human rights and minorities, fight against discrimination on the basis of gender, age and race, prevention of climate change, support for leading scientific, cultural, social ideas, participation of scientists, students and university management in global scientific and socially significant projects.
4. The level of professional development of employees – the percentage of teaching staff and scientific and pedagogical employees of the university – participants in certified international professional development programs FP&NL, where among the speakers there are famous personalities-professionals (FP - Famous Personalities-Professionals) and Nobel Prize laureates (NL - Nobel Laureates).
5. International scientific and educational cooperation – participation of university staff and students in international cooperation programs, international consortia and international educational and scientific projects.
6. Scientific activity – publication of articles on international scientific platforms, leading journals included in scientometric databases, publication of scientific monographs, receipt of international or national scientific grants by university employees.
7. The presence of outstanding graduates who change the country and the world for the better – names of scientists, writers, engineers, politicians, civil servants, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, athletes, workers and activists in the spheres of culture, education, economics and business, musicians, actors, bloggers, models, military, architects, artists, visionaries and eco-activists, fighters for democracy, human rights, known in the country and the world.
