The Ranking of the MESU according to the Scientific Projects of the universities: DNU is at the 5th place in Ukraine

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has published a ranking of universities and scientific institutions based on the results of the 2026 scientific research competition recommended for funding from the general fund of the State Budget. According to the total annual indicator, Oles Honchar Dnipro National University ranked the fifth in Ukraine and the first in Dnipropetrovsk region.

In particular, among the national winners, 11 scientific projects by scientists of DNU were evaluated by experts and received recommendations from the Ministry of Education for the implementation of DNU: 7 projects in the main competition and 4 projects under the quota of the front-line region. Scientists of Alma mater proposed promising scientific ideas in such areas as: mathematics and statistics, chemistry, chemical technologies and pharmacy, physics, nuclear physics and astronomy, Earth and environmental sciences, mechanical engineering and mechanical engineering, agricultural and veterinary sciences.

The total amount of the state funding for the mentioned projects of representatives of DNU is 15893.5 million hryvnias: 10193.5 million hryvnias (main competition for fundamental and applied research) and 5.7 million hryvnias (competition to support frontline HEIs/NUs).

The TOP-3 regional HEIs, together with Oles Honchar Dnipro National University according to the rating of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, included: National Technical University “Dnipro Polytechnic” – the 2nd place in the region, the 9th place in Ukraine (9 projects); Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology – the 3rd place in the region, the 14th place in Ukraine (6 projects).

The annual national competition of scientific projects for 2026 lasted throughout the past year. Specialists carried out an independent scientific and technical examination of the competition applications of higher education institutions and scientific institutions under the management of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

For state financial support for 2026, participants competed within the framework of two key competitions: the main competition for fundamental and applied research and the competition with separate support for front-line HEIs. Financing projects of institutions operating in front-line and border regions has become one of the main innovations of the competition of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and an important tool for additional support. After all, financing of scientific research in such institutions has been identified as a priority of state policy in 2026 and is being introduced in order to strengthen scientific potential and ensure sustainable development in conditions of increased security risks.

In total, 357 projects from 75 universities and scientific institutions of Ukraine will receive state support in 2026: 258 projects – under the main competition and 78 projects – under the competition for frontline HEIs.
