The Delegation of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic – in DNU

The delegation of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic attended Oles Honchar Dnipro National University. The delegation, led by Pavel Fischer, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security, included Radek Matula, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine, six senators and representatives of the Embassy.

The visit took place within the framework of the Czech Republic's patronage of aid and post-war reconstruction of Dnipropetrovs'k region and was targeted at identifying areas of cooperation.

The rector Sergiy Okovytyy, Prof. of DNU, informed the guests about modern research and unique opportunities of the university. DNU is a co-founder of the Cluster of Universities together with universities from the Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary, Moldova and Georgia.

They also talked about helping universities relocated to the base of DNU from Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as Dnipro National University has sheltered the most colleagues from the temporarily occupied regions.

The guests also viewed the modern laboratories of DNU and got acquainted with the “Students’ Rocket” project.

According to Pavel Fischer Dnipropetrovsk region is visited by the senators from industrial, tourist, and agricultural regions of the Czech Republic. They must determine which specific areas of cooperation to promote in their regions.

- It is a pleasure for us to see scientific and research work in Dnipro. And we also see the potential that has allowed to give shelter to universities displaced from the territories occupied by russia. We are acting as envoys nowadays, and the message, which we bring back to our universities, will determine cooperation. We see powerful technologies, we see rockets, we see participation in the European programs such as Horizon and Erasmus+.

We are open to cooperation. For example, Charles University in Prague has already been cooperating with Dnipro University. But we can do much more, and we will do it.
