Honorary Title is a Symbol of Trust and Partnership

On October 23, the Academic Council of DNU adopted a decision to award the title of “Honorary Doctor of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University” to the rector of Charles University (Prague), Doctor of Medicine, Professor Milena Králíčková (prof. MUDr. Milena Králíčková, Ph.D.).

Presenting the candidacy of Doctor Milena Králíčková for the highest award of DNU, the rector, corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine Sergiy Okovytyy noted her personal contribution to the development of strategic partnership between our universities and comprehensive support for DNU in the international arena.

In 2022, Professor Milena Králíčková invited DNU to join the Eastern Partnership Cluster, created at the initiative of Charles University. This is a community of 12 universities from the EU and associated countries, including Charles University, Sorbonne, Cologne, Warsaw, Milan universities, etc.

This step became another important stage in the integration of DNU into the European academic space, expanding the university's opportunities for direct participation in international scientific consortia, where colleagues from leading European universities work alongside our researchers.

During 2023-2025, Charles University submitted grant projects that provided for cooperation with DNU to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, and these projects won the competition three times in a row and were aimed at improving scientific and educational activities at our university, including distance learning technologies, promoting Open Science and Open Data, developing medical rehabilitation, sustainability and inclusiveness of education, internationalization of educational programs, etc. Thanks to her recommendations, we have started cooperation with Sorbonne University and are expanding our cooperation with leading EU universities.

The rector emphasized that the total amount received by our university over the years of implementation of the above projects amounted to approximately 1 million 860 thousand hryvnias. These projects financed 34 small research grants (450–600 euros each), financially supported our teachers, provided funds for the equipment of a conference hall and the holding of an international scientific conference “Prospects of Hydroecological Research” in 2024.

Since 2023, delegations of DNU scientists have visited Charles University, which allowed establishing direct ties between faculties and submitting applications for grant projects of the European Union. Thus, this year DNU and Charles University won two international Erasmus+ projects: 1)on academic mobility for the OPP “Physics”; 2)a project in the field of youth and sports “Balance”.

This partnership is not only about projects or grants, but first of all about mutual trust, humanity and support in times of trials. The academic community of the Czech Republic consistently supports Ukraine and Ukrainian colleagues, demonstrating true solidarity in the tough confrontation with the aggressor.

The Academic Council of DNU unanimously supported the candidacy of Professor Milena Kralichkova for the title of “Honorary Doctor of Oles Honchar Dnipro National University” and the award of the medal “For Faithful Service to DNU”.
