DNU Student Participates in International Youth Summit in Germany

DNU student of the Faculty of Biology and Ecology and the Faculty of Social Sciences and International Relations Olena Aksyonova attended the International Youth Summit “Actively (co)shaping the future? Becoming smarter through games,” which took place in late August in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany). The forum consisted of lectures, workshops, and discussions dedicated to democracy, digital well-being, sustainable development, and the impact of games on society.

Young people not only listened to speakers, but also worked actively in teams, creating their own ideas and presenting them. Such a space for dialogue between young people, experts, influencers, and politicians helps to broaden the worldview and find non-standard solutions. In particular, participants from the Weimar Triangle countries and Ukraine listened to the lecture The other side of democracy – about the impact of video games on democracy and political processes; during the Experiencing Democracy workshop, they played board games and analyzed their impact on society, performed exercises on creating a society on Mars and justified their decisions; at the Sustainable City of the Future workshop, company representatives told how they restore images of buildings through technology, thus preserving the history of cities, and designed models of buildings that may exist in the future.

For the intercultural evening on the first day, Olena Aksyonova and another representative of Dnipro Adelina Dyakova prepared a presentation about Ukraine: traditional clothing, food, drinks, the Carpathians, etc. They offered participants from other countries the game “Learn to Speak Ukrainian” and treated them to Ukrainian delicacies, showed a touching video about Ukrainians and Ukraine in the present.
