Online German Course from Bielefeld University
Students of German philology of DNU took a 4-month online German course from Bielefeld University (Germany). This format of cooperation was organized by the Department of International Relations and Academic Exchanges of DNU. Sabina Schommers, a lecturer at the Faculty of Linguistics and Literature, created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the classes.

Initially, the group was to be recruited with a German level between A2 and B1, but testing revealed that participants of this course had a higher level – between B1 and B2. Educational materials and homework for level B2 were placed on the Moodle platform, which is widely used in European universities today. These valuable, bright presentations with grammar and interesting explanatory videos on certain topics could be downloaded and used in the future if necessary.

Working in groups of 2-3 people, when you need to complete a certain task within a few minutes, and then all together in a common group – to discuss – reduced the level of stress during classes, because if you don’t know something, your classmates will tell you.

Many tasks were performed in a game form. These were, for example, interesting warm-ups: write one of the newly learned words on a sheet of paper without vowels - others had to guess what the word was; or the game “Grab the Paint” (Schnapp die Farbe) – find an object of a certain color and tell in German what it is and what it is for; or take a picture of the landscape outside the window right during the class and describe what you saw.

All participants received certificates of completion of the course.
It should be noted that DNU has already implemented several cooperation projects with Bielefeld University, in particular, financial support for students and teachers who suffered during the war.
