DNU and Charles University: Strengthening Partnership

During a visit to the Czech Republic, a delegation from the Dnipropetrovsk region visited Charles University (Prague). Deputy Head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration Iryna Hrytsay, Rector of DNU, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences Sergiy Okovytyy, General Director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital named after I.I. Mechnikov Sergiy Ryzhenko, Director of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine Radiy Shevchenko, General Director of the Regional Medical Center for Family Health Oleksiy Vlasov met with the rector of Charles University, Ms. Milena Králíčková , and staff of the international department.

Important points of interaction with the Czech Republic were found in the educational sphere in the medical field. From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, this metropolitan Czech university has been actively supporting Ukrainian students and teachers, opening academic mobility programs, providing technical assistance and grants for scientific activities. Together with Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, Charles University has been a co-founder of the educational consortium - the Eastern Partnership Universities Cluster (EULER) since 2022. Currently, DNU and the Prague partner university are successfully implementing numerous joint projects under the EU Erasmus+, Horizon programs, as well as under the Czech government grant program from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting with representatives of Charles University, the Dnipro delegation discussed the prospects for development and exchange of experience in the medical field. Since Charles University has 5 medical faculties and a faculty of pharmacy in its system. In addition, the Ministry of Economy of the Czech Republic plans to allocate additional funds for the training of medical students. Therefore, for Oles Honchar Dnipro National University, a joint educational process is again becoming relevant, in particular, with the Mechnikov Regional Clinical Hospital, where DNU graduates usually practice - future specialists in physical rehabilitation, occupational therapy, laboratory diagnostics, and nursing.
