Scientific Achievements of DNU were Presented in Turkey

Associate professors of DNU Svitlana Kayuk and Alina Solnyshkina attended the international forum “Muslims of Central Eurasia in the XXI century: challenges, opportunities and prospects”, which was held in Istanbul (Turkey). The forum is an annual meeting of scholars from around the world who seek to rethink the historical heritage of the countries of the so-called post-Soviet space and to understand the present-day Muslim communities.

– Long-term contacts between the Department of History of Ukraine and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People of Ukraine, the Crimean Tatar Community of Dnipro, and the Historical and Cultural Center of the Crimean Tatars of Dnipro prove that the topics of the Ukrainian past, memorialization of historical memory require constant care because of their neglect and ideologization in previous historical, – emphasizes Svitlana Kayuk, associate professor of the Department of History of Ukraine at DNU. – In recent years, Ukrainian scholars have developed a solid work on the history and culture of the Crimean Tatars and the Muslim component of the past of Ukraine. Our task is only to convey these findings to the global scientific community. This was the main purpose of the business trip, as well as the establishment of scientific relations and popularization of DNU. Deeper knowledge of the relevant subjects of Ukrainian history will help to improve the courses “History of Ukraine”, “History and Culture of Ukraine”, special courses developed for the educational program “Historical Ukrainian Studies and Applied History”, update term papers, master's theses, etc.

– Cooperation with the Institute of Knowledge Integration, which co-organized the forum, opened up opportunities for me to communicate with scholars from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, – said Alina Solnyshkina, associate professor of sociology, social work, public administration, and management at DNU. – My report was devoted to the concept of civil society and the directions of its development. The comparative analysis of social initiatives and the realization of human rights and freedoms gave me the opportunity to meet people with common values. I gained new knowledge in sociology and social policy, namely, I learnt about the methods of social work in the Middle East and Central Asia. I am grateful to the conference organizers and DNU for supporting my initiatives. Professional growth and exchange of experience help to improve scientific disciplines. After all, this year I implemented a grant to prepare a collection of practical cases on social policy and social protection.
