The delegation of Embassy of India Republic in Ukraine visited Oles Honchar Dnipro National University. Manoj Kumar Bharti, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador, has met with Mykola Polyakov, rector of DNU. The ambassador has given a lecture about economic development in India to students.
During the meeting with the rector possible ways of invitation of Indian students for study in DNU were discussed. Mykola Polyakov noted, earlier part of students prevailed in general contingent of foreign students. Nowadays the level of academic exchange should be updated, because DNU suggests to foreigners the widest variety of specialties.
Rector passed English-language compilation of the newest researches and developments of university scientists to the Embassy. In response Embassy staff promised informational support of university initiatives among universities and entrepreneurs of their country. For the first education the ambassador is physicist, so with great pleasure he accepted the invitation to give some lectures to students of Faculty of Physics, Electronics and Computer Systems.
During the visit Manoj Bharti suggested the presentation "India and the World. Only Truth Triumphs". In it he described in detail the current state of economic development of his country. Students of International Economics Faculty, Economics Faculty and Faculty of Social Sciences and International Relations, as well as DNU students-citizens of India gathered to listen a professional story of Ambassador.
Beginning the communication with our students, Ambassador tried to find out the views of the Ukrainians about India. In turn, presenting other interesting and sometimes little-known facts during the virtual journey of the Indian map, Manoj Bharti convincingly showed how, in conditions of significant heterogeneity, his country succeeded.
Indian diplomat shared the secret of economic success of his country: “India can by right be called the Land of Diversity. Imagine, we have 29 states and five other allied territories with 325 languages and 1,652 dialects, only 22 of which are officially recognized by the Constitution! How do we manage to progress together? We celebrate this diversity - thanks to our philosophy of tolerance and democracy. All of you know that India is historically known as the Land of Wisdom and Wealth. For example, 190 years ago, India's share in world trade was 12%, then in the middle of the 20th century it was only 0.01%, and already in 2017 it grew to 2.4%. In many respects, due to the state policy of mutual interest and unity, in the last 70 years we have succeeded to become one of the most promising countries from one of the poorest ones. India's economy is currently the fourth largest economy in the world, and experts predict that the next 10 years our country will continue to be one of the fastest growing".
The Diplomat explained for Ukrainian students on concrete and clear examples how our country can use the economic potential of India. Thus, tourism may become a priority area for mutually beneficial cooperation between India and Ukraine.
Indian population of 65% is younger than 35 years – due to this fact India is considered to be the youngest nation in the world. So Indians are also quite interested in the educational potential of Ukraine.
Nowadays 11 000 of Indians study in Ukraine, every such student spends 5 000 dollars annually. Summarily it is 55 000 dollars for Ukraine. In the near future, the number of Indian students in Ukraine may even increase to about 40,000 ones. In turn, India may also be of interest to Ukrainians, as it is the largest English-speaking nation in the world – about 625 million speakers. Accordingly, this is an excellent platform for Ukrainian comfortable learning or doing business with Indian partners.
In the end of the speech Manoj Bharti optimistically stressed: "In addition to bilateral trade, cooperation prospective between our countries is possible in agricultural, aviation, space and machine-building fields, medical and pharmaceutical fields, field of information technologies and many others".
